Around the “O” – More Indoor Sports in Omaha?
Over the past few years, we’ve been seeing plenty of new indoor sports complexes popping up around Omaha and the Metro area. Omaha Sports Complex, the Kroc Center, the newly built Volleyball Academy (TVA) and Council Bluffs’ new Iowa West Fieldhouse to name a few.
But is the market saturated? Apparently not! There are still a few types of indoor sports complexes which Omaha needs to add, it seems! How about indoor golf, coming from the Texas company TopGolf? Or more indoor tennis courts? Or a swimming center including an Olympic-size pool and multiple other pools? There is talk of all of the above!
In fact, groundbreaking for the $125 million multi-sport complex which will include the indoor Olympic-size pools took place on Thursday, August 18, 2016. The plans for the complex, according to the Omaha World Herald include an natatorium featuring two Olympic-size swimming pools and four other pools, plus additional arenas for 24 tennis courts and 12 soccer fields. The projected opening is set for 2018 at this point.
Now another interesting proposition: how about a high-tech, indoor golf range? Topgolf, the Dallas-based indoor golf company has been reported to be looking in Omaha for a place to build.
In all this talk, there seems to be plenty of construction and development that will be needing to happen. So it doesn’t look like the construction market will be dropping anytime soon in Omaha! It seems like there might be some HVAC needed for all this!
